APEC-ESIS was initially created with funding from APEC's Energy Working Group (EWG). Since then, annual funding has come in the form of contributions from APEC member economies. Core funding for web site maintenance and development in 2010 has been provided by Chinese Taipei, Korea and New Zealand.

In prior years Australia, Canada, Japan, and the United States, as well as the Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Partnership (REEEP) and the USAID EcoAsia Program, have contributed core funding and support. Cost share is provided by the Collaborative Labeling & Appliance Standards Program (CLASP).
